GOLDEN – Colorado School of Mines' senior Ashley Goletz worked an efficient four-hit, complete game shutout and the NFCA ninth-ranked Orediggers defeated New Mexico Highlands 1-0 in Sunday's Senior Day finale in Golden for their second straight four-game RMAC series sweep.

Goletz made the most of her final regular season start at the CSM Softball Field, scattering four hits, two walks and not allowing a runner to reach third base with 68.2 percent (58-of-85) of her pitches inside the strike zone. Her third career shutout and first since a three-hit, 6-0 win at Nebraska-Kearney on March 18, 2011 pushed her record to 13-3, the third-best win-loss total in the conference.

After five scoreless innings in which the teams combined for only seven hits, Mines (33-4-1, 24-2 RMAC) finally broke through in the sixth as senior Molly Thiebaut snuck a two-out single down the line past the first baseman and junior Gianna Duncan followed with an RBI-double, sending a 1-1 delivery to the fence in deep left for the deciding score.

Duncan and Thiebaut finished with two hits apiece as Duncan went 2-for-2 with one walk and Thiebaut was 2-for-3.

Junior Courtney Derus and freshman Elise Dugwyler had the other two basehits, going 1-for-3 and 1-for-2, respectively.

With eight games left on the regular season docket, the Orediggers, winners of 11 in a row overall and 16 straight at home, are six wins away from equaling the program's single-season record set back in 2009 and four shy of matching the mark for most conference wins, accomplished in both 2009 and 2011.

Mines continues RMAC play next weekend with a four-game series at Chadron State, beginning with a 12 p.m./2 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday, April 20.
