#5 M. Soccer Completes Undefeated RMAC Campaign

DENVER – The #5-ranked Colorado School of Mines Men's Soccer team completed an undefeated RMAC regular season Saturday with its 2-0 victory over Regis on the Regis Match Pitch. It marks the second time in program history Mines has gone undefeated in regular-season, conference play.

Both Oredigger goals came off the foot of John Haist. The Englishman led all players with six shots putting four of those attempts on goal. Goalkeeper Drew Johnson broke Mines' single-season shutouts record with his ninth clean sheet of 2018. Johnson recorded two saves in his 16th win of the season. Ford Edwards and Talon Stanley also contributed five combined attempts to Mines' shots total.

The shutout victory gives Mines (16-1-1, 13-0-1 RMAC) its 10th clean sheet this season. Regis (10-5-2, 9-3-2 RMAC) finishes its regular season ranked #3 in the conference standings. The Rangers out-shot the Orediggers 10-7 in the first half but ended in 15-14 deficit.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The visiting Orediggers took longer than usual to get on the board, but were able to score first in 24th minute. Ben Overholt drew a foul in the 18-yard box to earn a penalty-kick opportunity for the Orediggers. Haist stepped to the spot and easily converted to give Mines a 1-0 lead.

Haist struck again the second half, notching his second tally in the 68th minute. The senior forward dribbled past two Ranger defenders before firing a low shot that found the back of the net to make it 2-0, Mines. It would be all the Orediggers needed as their defense held Regis to zero shots on goal in the second period.
