Mines Falls To Lubbock Christian In Season Opener

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Colorado School of Mines fell to Lubbock Christian in its 2018-19 debut, 70-62, at St. Mary's University in Texas.

True freshman Brendan Sullivan scored 19 in his collegiate debut to go with eight rebounds and two blocks, while Mason Baker drained 17. LCU had three in double digits led by Rashaan Proctor (16), Brennan Fowler (14), and Silas Crisler (12).

The Orediggers were held to 41.5 percent shooting after a tough first half saw them go 9-for-26 (34.6%). Mines trailed by only a point at the half, however, 27-26, but spotted LCU a 6-0 run to start the second that they ultimately grew into an 11-point lead late in the half. Mines got as close as six in the closing seconds, but Crisler's late free throws iced it for the Chaps.

Mines out-rebounded LCU 35-33, led by Sullivan's eight and Michael Glen's seven.

Mines will take on the host Rattlers Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Central.
