HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first two sets, Mines faced deficits of 5-11 and 6-11. Neither margin was too much for the Orediggers to overcome. Powell led the comeback in the opening frame as she served her team from 5-11 to 14-11. The 9-0 surge for Mines featured three service aces from Powell. That, along with Glassco's five error-free kills, pushed the home team to a 25-21 win. What followed in game two was a rally from 6-11 to 11-11. The surge started with a Stuewe kill and appropriately ended with a Powell service ace. Along the way, Jansen added two error-free kills and the Orediggers poised themselves for the sweep with a 25-21 win.
Game one featured two ties and one lead change. The second set included six ties and three changes. Just one tie and no lead changes made the final frame the most lopsided of the night. A modest 5-0 run pushed Mines to a 10-3 lead, and the Orediggers did not look back. Glassco returned with three more kills with no errors for a .750 hitting percentage in the game. Knight added four kills and hit .429. It was all set up by Powell's 14 assists as Mines completed the sweep with another 25-21 win.
