GOLDEN, Colo. - #12 Colorado Mesa was tough up and down the lineup as they pulled away late to beat Colorado School of Mines 26-12 at Volk Gym.

Mines (10-2, 4-2 RMAC) never led in the dual but was still well-position through seven weight classes, down 14-12 heading into the upperweights before CMU reeled off three straight victories to finish.

Carter Noehre's pin of #6 Ryan Wheeler highlighted the night for the Orediggers, and Grayston DiBlasi and Levi Farris also picked up wins.

Christian Lopez wrestled the match of the night to start at 125 pounds, taking on #6 Dawson Collins for nine minutes before Collins won 3-1 on a takedown at the buzzer in sudden victory. Lopez wrestled a brilliant defensive match allowing just one escape and getting riding time in regulation. CMU added to its lead with #9 Collin Metzgar's 13-2 major decision over Weston DiBlasi at 133, but Grayston DiBlasi got Mines on the board with a 6-4 win at 141 before Mesa's Danial Magana won 5-3 over Teague Dilbeck at 149.

Noehre won a stunner at 157, trailing 7-1 in the second period before a lightning-quick takedown into a pin beat Wheeler in 4:23. #9 Gus Dalton defeated Jack Damenti 11-0 at 165 and Levi Farris won 9-8 against Braeson Lewis after nearly earning the pin early in the first period. 

That had Mines trailing by just two points, but the Mavericks shut the door when Jason Bynarowicz caught Ryan Cody for a first-period pin, and Kash Anderson upset #5 Anderson Salisbury 8-5 at 197 to seal the victory. Ruben Samuelson scored late to win an entertaining 285-pound battle between two light heavyweights despite another attacking effort from Deandre Rucker, who had three takedowns. 

Mines wraps up its dual schedule next Thursday at home against Chadron State at 7 p.m.
