Mines hosts the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Open, Sunday, 10 a.m. [Live Results]

MINES HOSTS FINAL HOME WEEKEND OF THE SEASON
It's hard to believe that the college wrestling season is already nearing its conclusion as Colorado School of Mines hosts a pair of home events in its final action in Golden of the 2022-23 season. The Orediggers wrap up their dual schedule Thursday night at Volk Gym on Senior Night against Chadron State with a 7 p.m. start, then turn around and host the annual Rocky Mountain Collegiate Open Sunday in Steinhauer Fieldhouse starting at 10 a.m. Thursday's dual will stream live on the RMAC Network, and both events will have live results on Trackwrestling. Full entries and brackets for the RMCO will be available Saturday on Trackwrestling; fans attending the open are reminded that there is limited bleacher seating in the fieldhouse and they are welcome to bring camp chairs.

MINES CELEBRATES SENIORS
Before Thursday's dual, Mines will honor a large senior class that has had tremendous success over the past four (or five) years. The Orediggers will send off Tyler Krause, Teague Dilbeck, Dylan Yancey, Carter Noehre, Jack Damenti, KJ Kearns, Levi Farris, Anderson Salisbury, and Anthony Atria from this year's graduating class, and also honor Wes Rayburn and Perry Rodenbeck as the pair graduated back in December.

LAST TIME OUT
Mines had a chance against RMAC-leading Colorado Mesa last Friday, but the Mavericks won the final three bouts to seal a 26-12 win at Volk Gym. The dual was highlighted by Carter Noehre's pin of #6 Ryan Wheeler, and Grayston DiBlasi and Levi Farris also had wins by decision.

SERIES HISTORY
Mines and Chadron State square off for the 38th time dating back to 1962, with the Eagles holding a 24-11-2 series lead. Mines, however, has won four in a row including a dominating 37-3 win in Nebraska last season that included pins from Grayston DiBlasi, Carter Noehre, and Anderson Salisbury.

DOUBLE DIGITS
At 10-2 in duals this season, Mines racked up double-digit wins for the first time since going 11-3 in 2018-19 and for the third time overall under Austin DeVoe. Prior to DeVoe taking over the program, Mines had never won 10 or more duals in a season dating back to 1920.

MOVING ON UP
Anderson Salisbury continues to rack up wins in his career, and the two-time all-American is in elite company on the all-time wins list. At 81-25 all-time in his career, Salisbury is one of only 13 Oredigger wrestlers to reach 75 wins, a mark most recently achieved by former teammate Weston Hunt (78); Salisbury just passed Hunt to enter the all-time Mines top 10 in wins.

DIBLASI NEARS 50
Only a sophomore, Grayston DiBlasi has been putting up wins at a historic pace in his two years in Golden, and he is already climbing up the Orediggers' all-time falls list. His 20 career pins makes him one of just 10 wrestlers to ever reach that mark, and he is Mines' active leader in falls. At 22-4, DiBlasi has put together back-to-back 20-win seasons and is an impressive 49-11 in two years as he aims to win his 50th career match Thursday.

IN THE POLLS
Mines is receiving votes in the third regular-season NWCA coaches' poll out in late January, with both Grayston DiBlasi (up two spots to #9 at 141) and Anderson Salisbury (holding at #5 at 197) in the individual rankings. In the latest Open Mat rankings out on Wednesday morning, Mines is #24 in the tournament ranking and #25 in the dual team ranking, and has four wrestlers in the individual top-20: DiBlasi (down one spot to #8 at 141), Christian Lopez (steady at #13 at 125), Carter Noehre (coming back to the poll at #14), and Salisbury (#7 at 197). Chadron State is ranked #23 in the NWCA team poll with a single ranked individual, #2 Quentrevion Campbell at 133 pounds. Campbell is #1 in the Open Mat ranking along with #11 Quade Smith (125) and #20 Mason Watt (285).

LEADING THE WAY
The Orediggers have selected four captains for the 2022-23 season: Jack Damenti, KJ Kearns, Tyler Krause, and Anderson Salisbury. Both Kearns and Salisbury are returning captains from the 2021-22 season.

LOOKING AHEAD
Mines heads to Chadron, Neb. for the NCAA Super Region VI Championship on Feb. 25, and qualifiers from there head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for nationals on March 10-11.
