Sixta Scores 25 in Loss at #1 Texas Woman’s

DENTON, Texas – Oredigger guard Emma Sixta led all players on Wednesday night with 25 points, but the Colorado School of Mines Women's Basketball team still dropped an 83-57 contest to #1-ranked Texas Woman's

Sixta was the leading scorer for a second straight game and added five rebounds, three steals, and two assists. She shot 75 percent from the floor and was 6-of-8 at the free-throw line. Jenna Siebert joined Sixta in double digits, adding 10 on four field goals and two free throws. Also notable was Jade Leon who tallied seven points, eight rebounds, one block and one assist. All those efforts were fraught by 21 Oredigger (1-4) turnovers. Texas Woman's (6-0) committed just five turnovers and shot over 50 percent from the field. Ashley Ingram was the Pioneers leader with 23 points, nine rebounds, six assists, one block, and one steal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A trio of three-pointers by Sixta in the first quarter drove Mines to a 19-18 lead at the first break. That advantage included a two minute dry spell by the Orediggers as well. In the second quarter, Lindsey Jones drained a three-pointer to keep Mines within three points at 30-27, but Texas Woman's rolled a 10-1 run into halftime. After the break, the Pioneers cushioned their lead with a 22-17 third period. Sixta accounted for 12 of Mines' 17 points. The final quarter was all TWU who pulled away to the win with a 21-12 frame.
