The Colorado School of Mines Men's Rugby Club hit the road again on September 13, traveling to Fort Collins for a clash with Division IAA Colorado State University. In a nail-biting defensive contest, the Orediggers came up just short, falling 5–7 in one of the tightest matches of the young season.

The match was defined by relentless defense, with Mines spending much of the game pinned in their own half. Time and again, the Orediggers rose to the challenge with goal-line stands that showcased grit, discipline, and unity. The highlight of the day came from Jack Thome, who broke through to score his first career try and the lone points of the afternoon.

Though the scoreboard didn't tilt in Mines' favor, the team left the field proud of their effort against a strong D1AA opponent. The performance under pressure demonstrated not only the toughness of the squad but also the growth they're making week by week as they test themselves against higher-level competition.

With eyes set on returning to the Division III national stage, Mines is embracing these early challenges as opportunities to prepare for the road ahead. The Orediggers will look to build on this defensive performance as they continue their fall campaign.
