Orediggers Dominate Season Opener with 55–0 Shutout Over Colorado College

The Colorado School of Mines women's rugby team opened their season in commanding fashion, defeating Colorado College 55–0 in a conference matchup on Saturday. From the opening whistle, the Orediggers controlled possession and dictated the pace of play, setting the tone for a strong campaign ahead.

The scoring started early with Kylie Bogert touching down the first try of the season. From there, Mines' offense exploded. Aliya Lynn, Kaylyn Courtney, and Piper Lee each recorded two tries, showcasing the team's depth and attacking firepower. Lee also shined with the boot, slotting four of five conversions, while Emma Acker added one more to round out the day's kicking duties.

On defense, the Orediggers were equally sharp. Aliya Lynn led the charge with a standout nine tackles and zero misses, shutting down Colorado College's attack and ensuring the clean sheet. First-year player Ayana Mejorado added to the celebration by scoring her first career try, marking an early highlight in her Mines journey.

Colorado College recognized Bogert as Back of the Match and Whitney Madler as Forward of the Match, a nod to their grit despite the Orediggers' overwhelming dominance.

Saturday's contest also marked the Mines debuts of Charlotte Siervogel, Mejorado, and Nevaeh Olinger, who all contributed to the team's seamless performance.

With the 55–0 win, Mines not only secures an early conference victory but also builds momentum toward their season goal: clinching a bid to Regionals in Kansas City. The team will continue to develop new players while relying on its veteran leadership to push the program forward.

The Orediggers left the field with confidence, camaraderie, and a statement: they're here to contend.
