GOLDEN, Colo. - #11 Colorado School of Mines ended the regular season on a roll, blanking UCCS 3-0 ahead of next week's RMAC Tournament.
The Orediggers (15-3-0, 13-1-0 RMAC), who earned the RMAC regular-season championship Thursday night, will head into the postseason as the tournament's #1 seed, hosting a semifinal on Friday, Nov. 3 at 5 p.m.
Trevor Amann,
John Haist, and
Ryan Wilson scored for Mines in a dominating effort as they outshot the Mountain Lions (7-8-3/7-4-3 RMAC) by a 21-4 margin.
The scoring started in the 23rd minute as
Nikolaus Grotz exploited a run forward by the UCCS fullback to put it into space for Amann, and he put a hard finish on it from 12 yards out for his seventh of the year. Haist made it 2-0 at the break with his RMAC-leading 19th of the year, beating the goalkeeper to the far post from the top of the box after
Ben Overholt's pass found him free.
Wilson capped the game off with a run from the back to convert
Preston Migaki's cross in the 80th minute.
Collin Hall made one save in 79:14 of work, with
Josh Clark playing the balance.
