LAST WEEK REWIND
Mines went 1-1 this past week to move to 3-1 in the RMAC. First, the Orediggers got a hat trick from
Trevor Amann to blast UCCS 4-1. They followed that up with a tough 2-1 defeat to MSU Denver this past Sunday. In the defeat to the Roadrunners, an 85' goal proved to the Orediggers' undoing. Mines did nearly tie the game a few minutes later, but it wasn't meant to be.
AMANN ON FIRE
Trevor Amann, a freshman forward from Westminster, Colo., has been on an absolute tear the past two weeks. After several near misses, Amann has exploded with seven goals in the past four games. He recorded his first career brace in a victory at CCU (9/14), and got his first career hat trick against UCCS (9/23). He also had the game-winner in a 3-0 victory at CSU-Pueblo (9/18). Amann is second in the RMAC with 14 points on the season.
RMAC STATS
Amann firing in all those goals has been part of an offensive outburst in general for the Orediggers. They have now scored 18 goals for a 2.25 g/m average which is tops in the RMAC. They are also second in the league defensively as they have only conceded six total goals for a 0.75 average.
THE ASSIST MAN
Mines is also tops in the RMAC in assists as they are averaging two assists per contest. Leading that charge is junior midfielder
Nikolaus Grotz who is adding in 0.5 a contest, or four total on the season. He now has 27 for his career which puts him one away from tying Reine Huber (1994-96) for fourth most in program history. He is also only six away from tying Tesho Akindele (2010-13) for the program record.
SERIES RECORDS
The Orediggers are a 1-0 all-time against South Dakota Mines & Tech with the first ever meeting coming last season. That game was a 4-1 victory for Mines up in Rapid City, S.D. The Orediggers also hold the all-time lead against Regis with a 25-21-3 advantage in 49 meetings. Both meetings last season were 2-1 victories for Mines.
SCOUTING S.D. MINES & TECH
The Hardrockers make their way to Golden with a 0-7 overall record and 0-4 mark in league matches. It's been tough sledding for SDMST all season as they have only scored eight goals all season for a 1.14 goals per game average. Lane Schroeder and Ian DeBois have four of the eight goals with two each. Jack Seifert and Kyle Daledovich have split time in goal with each having with each surrendering more than 2.5 goals per match and only saving around 70% of shots faced.
SCOUTING REGIS
The ninth-ranked Rangers will represent one of Mines' sternest tests of the season as they boast a perfect 7-0 record and an unblemished 4-0 league mark. They are holding teams to a league-low 0.29 goals per game while also scoring two a game themselves. Leading that defensive fortress is starting goalkeeper Chase Webert who has 0.38 GAA and is saving 88.9% of shots faced.
